It's crazy how much of a difference a small amount of experience makes. I've tried to start a garden a few times now, and every time it's resulted in complete failure. Last summer I actually did manage to get some bell peppers to grow, but they never really produced fruit. Everything else I was trying to grow bit the dust. I overwintered them, and honestly I thought they weren't gonna make it, but some of them did. I put them out (fairly late, admittedly) this summer and now they're actually producing some sizeable fruit. Only a few, but still. I've even got a tiny spider who built a web in one of the leaves of one of them which I figure is probably a good thing.
I decided I was gonna try and grow a few things for fall, and I've got seedlings that seem to be really healthy. Setting up a raised bed, primarily for next spring, but once I fill it up with dirt in a day or two, I'm gonna transplant some broccoli and plant some radishes. Got some bush beans planted in a big planter, too. The weird part is, I wouldn't be able to explain what I'm doing differently now compared to what I did before, things have just kind of clicked in my head. I don't expect everything to be a success, but man it feels really great to finally have something work for once.
