1) set a trap using local crushed leaves as bait
2) clear the local area of large naturally fallen logs (they are deathly afraid of them)
3) create a number of ready campfires in order to keep them in place once snared
4) enclose entire camp with string with bells hanging (to notify in case of intrusion)
5) Be ready with hot cocoa (the smell subdues them)
