as for gravel, hells yes. i'm a roadie usually in lycra head to toe, but i love taking my road bike onto gravel! i can't explain why it feels so good it just does. you're constantly looking for a line and assessing the grip, you forget completely about how much it's hurting your ass and just have fun with it.
i can do a lot with decent tyres on my road bike, but a dedicated gravel bike is definitely on my list. :)
