>>1474598>Can you describe your "border-less" bed?Just soil tilled then raked into a long hill however high and wide I think is needed. Since the corn will be planted earlier than normal it will experience heavier rain. The raised bed will help keep it from becoming swamped.
As for the black-painted bottles of water, they work well, but work best in conjunction with polytunnels.
>>1474600>Can I use clear plastic? For polytunnels of course. Mine was once clear. It turns white over time until it finally starts to become brittle and break up. You will still need to vent out air that's too hot and bring in fresh air. I keep thermometers in mine to make sure things are not going to cook.
For use as mulch, yes. But, you need to keep it tighter to the ground than you normally do with black plastic. It will be more effective to use black plastic, especially if you are trapping the air above it using a polytunnel. Also, as states,
>>1474614>What's a low maintenance watering system I can use for them?"Ollas Irrigation," perhaps?
>>1474610You'll need to mist the soil from the top until the seeds have sprouted up above the soil. Couple that with bottom watering. After a few days of growth the roots should be far enough down to be watered from the bottom exclusively. This will depend on the soil mixture. Some soil types won't wick up well while others do it very well.
>>1474620Looks good. Good luck!
>>1474642There's only real trouble if there are many days in a row of cloudy skies then cold nights. If the sun is out and the internal temps creep up past 95F I consider opening the vents. The amount of stored heat is what determines how long it can go before extra heat is needed. Here's an old pic from 2013. I could have done it better, but I got ripe tomatoes in January under snow. It had a heater. Now, I plant around better methods and extra heat is normally not needed (April 1st and on). At night, you can place an insulating blanket over the tunnels if needed.
