I took the bivvy out onto the deck tonight for testing. It was 55 degrees and the bivvy alone was plenty warm with my Paria XL pad, and way too warm with my cheapo Aegismax bag (pic). With both I got sweaty very quickly, which I attribute to the bag, not the bivvy's breathability, because I tried the bag without the bivvy and still sweat, just slightly less. I poured some water on my legs and feet and stayed dry. Then I got into the bivvy without the pad and poured a liter onto my legs and feet, and did notice a very small amount of water in the bottom of the foot box. I think I missed a spot or didn't use enough sealer so I'll go over it again and retest. As it is it would do just fine, albeit pretty warm, under a tarp to protect against rain splashes.
