Dogs have been used by humans as survival aids for 36000+ years. I think that the thousands of years worth of people across literally the entire planet whose entire lives were spent surviving /out/, who all came to the decision that dogs were a survival asset, know a little more about the subject than you outists.
Ofc it obviously depends on the dog, nowadays we have so many canines whose very existence is a crime against nature (pugs, etc) who are major liabilities.
But a well trained working breed dog? Hell yes. Early alarm system/ extra defense + deterrent/ can be trained to help hunt + retrieve / control rodent population around camp/ etc etc
