I was endlessly fascinated with them for a while as a kid, and on my travels through nature I sometimes see some great raw material. Small, aesthetically beautiful examples of tree species that would have value in a shallow pot and "trained" to grow into a wonderful little creation. The philosophy of it is fine, since removing 1 very small tree from an entire woodland is harmless after all.
Now I'm thinking of getting back into it, ordering the wire (to shape the branches into position), etc. and making a few shelves in my garden.
Anyone enjoy some bonsai trees?
