I sleep pretty good in a hammock,
dont need a pillow
can setup on forested hillsides which is everywhere in NZ so you dont have to find a flat campsite
in the trees so its stealth
good temperature control because you can make it very cooling or very warm based on what you add to it
place to sit so you dont get dirt of moss on your clothes.
even if the tarp is light the stuff you have to carry to make it practical isnt, rope ect
my setup is some 1000lb rope with a cinching carabiner to setup a ridgeline then i use 4 prusiks to hang the tarp and hammock onto the ridgeline then 2 paracord lines to tie down the other 2 corners.
havent got an underblanket yet but use my winter sleeping bag -15c comfort rating and its about right at 8c which shows how much heat it takes from you out the bottom which would be good in summer but not winter without an airmat or underblanket
my hot tent is comparable in weight and bulk and warmer if dry wood is around but has to have flat ground without rocks which seems rarer than 2 trees 4-5m apart in NZ back country
