>>1265158I use BMX chain on my fixies, I know what it's like. Derailleur bike chains are thinner, with thinner plates, and the pins don't stick out as much. They also get flexed sideways when you shift, so if you put them together wrong the chain's more likely to break. Quick links are cheap and most chains come with one so there's no reason not to do it right.
