Here are several FG Knots, all with glaring mistakes. Each starts incorrectly at the mono side, making them bulkier. Each has a section or several where the pattern was reversed and the mono bulged out as a result.
>15lbs braided with 8lbs monoThe 5th image shows an FG knot with terrible tag ends sticking out and 2 rather large sections where the pattern reversed and the mono bulged. Knots 6 & 7 use 15lbs mono and 50lbs braided respectively.
When you make the FG Knot, it should roll back and forth in respect to the tag end you are weaving back and forth. If it does not do that the mono will take precedence and bulge out as you see here. A goof FG Knot will be closer to knot pic #4, minus the two mistakes. You can always back up a little if you see something wrong.
>>956632I use PowerPro 100% Spectra with mono leader.
>>956625I just did 6 of those. Very easy to make. Every one of them pulled out easily. The mono slipped out like nothing was holding it. It still had the memory of the crooks and bends though so something was trying to hold it at least.
I think the reason it pulls out so easily is the fact that the mono/fluro isn't being kinked up enough. The FG knot kinks up both lines a great bit.
