OP has three options: prepare himself, not prepare himself and risk getting mauled, or simply not go outside. OP obviously wants to go outside, so that leaves him with two options. Being mobbed by dogs is extremely likely given what the OP has told us though, so that kind of narrows down the possible solution.
There's a hidden fourth option where the OP buys a pointy stick and hopes for the best against a possible PACK of AT LEAST ELEVEN DOGS, and is by far the most hilarious, but likely isn't viable.
