The sheer autism over rigs, groundbait, chumming, and boilies hits me just right, but in the US we don't really have any situations where it would be worth doing. We have some carp, but they are dead easy to catch with just corn because they are completely unpressured. Other than that, the only fish worth fishing with bait for are catfish and panfish species and neither lend themselves well to european styles of fishing other than floats and poles for panfish. It's on my bucketlist to someday take a vacation in Europe and catch some chub, tench, bream, roach, shit like that.
