>>1133686Huge axe guy here. That handle is fine. You can use just about any old stick on a hatchet. It matters a lot more on a large splitting maul with a long handle that flexes upon impact. If you are going to split logs with it put a few layers of duct or electrical tape around the base of the axe head to prevent the handle chipping and it should last double digit years.
