I want to live as a semi hermit, not totally locked off from society but enough to independently live off the resources around.

How do I go about in REALLY committing to doing something like this?
I just want to live free, tending to my garden, collecting fire wood, refining my shelter, and whatever the fuck else I please.
Not forever alone type of deal, idk.
