Honestly, if you aren't 100% set on the Ardent, go to Bass Pro or Cabelas and look at an already assembled combo that you like. If you are willing to spend up to $100, you should end up with a nice combo. And then look at the reel, it will have line weights and how much it holds printed on the spool. I would reccommend running something like 6lb line. So find the size that says something like "4lb-220yds, 6lb-150yds, 8lb-110yds". That will be a good size for what you are trying to do. And it will already have a matching rod so you won't have to worry about that.
