>>2703392Oh that's a very good idea.
I live in one of those areas that was designated USDA climate zone 6 a few years ago but is now a zone 7 region.
Will it get cold enough for the strawbs here?
>>2703426>Which direction is your window facing?>How much light do you get?My windows are all north facing, but my deck is on the west side of unit, and gets full sun from sunrise to noon.
By noon the sun is on the other side of my building and the deck is shaded by the roof overhang for the remainder of the day.
>artichokes bigYeah that was a concern I had for sure, but they're also really tasty and I have a pretty large amount of space on my deck.
I was thinking about getting a smaller variety of artichokes, like Colorado Red Star or something, that are only supposed to grow up to like 3 or 4 feet instead of the like 5-7 other species can get to, and just having one or two in the space under my roof overhang on my deck, filling out the rest of the space in the pot around with with herbs like picrel
>>2703480Ooh, good idea, I hadn't considered growing saffron at all. Is there really a market for homegrown, organic saffron?
That just sounds very niche.
But I do like the idea of growing saffron and horseraddish and some other spice kinda plants, at least for my own use if nothing else.
