We got issued some weird extremely scuffed version of the winter issue that went OVER our regular boots (something like pic related) that sucked total dick; I forwent them in favor of just wearing my regular Danners. Trying to walk with combat boots and those shitty overboots on reminded me of that kid in 5 layers of winter clothes from A Christmas Story.
The Norwegians gave pretty much everyone some issue of miscellaneous winter gear from Jerven because they had a big enough stockpile (it’s amazing what happens when you don’t need to supply a bloated defense apparatus.) This included a pair of Wellingtons that basically amounted to a pair you could get from Cabelas or Bass Pro or whatever. I would recommend those over the over boots. I can’t speak to the Mickey Mouse boots’ effectiveness but I hear they’re okay for cheap surplus boots.
