Only weighs about 3 lbs for a boot though, Still prefer M77 or Redback Everests. I've heard some say unless you are military or custom order for their 5 widths, they will be made in Portugal and not as well made.
>>2271846Hydrolysis is with foam, such as EVA and polyurethane. It is called direct attach where the leather is bonded to the midsole through heat. Just make sure the place you are buying from has recent stock and not something sitting on the shelves for a year or two so they wont crumble on your first hike. Also, don't save polyurethane boots for wearing once a year or during one season, as they can last up to a decade if used regularly. Farmers in Aus regularly use Redbacks, daily and get a long life out of them.
I live in the NW, and if I saw someone wearing the 5 pound Whites, Nick's, Wesco's, Franks, JKs, Schnee's here for hiking i'd think they were a retard, LARPer, or doomsdayer. One pound on your foot is equal to 5 on your back.
I'd recommend around 3 lbs and under. Even the Prabos made German Para boots at 4 lbs is too much for hiking. Ask the wildland firefighters, whom are switching to polyurethane boots by Haix and Danner, about their plethora of back, knee, and foot related issues within a decade of service.
