It's basically insane to buy from any manufacturer except Toyota if you want an /out/ vehicle.
Doesn't really matter too much if it's a Hilux or a Land Cruiser as long as it's suitable for the terrain and activities you're planning to use it on. I drive a 20-year-old land cruiser as my /out/ vehicle. They're pretty cheap (~$10k) if they have one or two hundred thousand miles on them and are in good condition, but they can easily go to 350k miles without any major component swaps.
