Fire kit is really basic, just like first aid.
Ferro rod - this is for fun/practice. I always use a lighter when I need a fire.
2x lighters (I have 1 more with my cook kit)
A dozen or so cotton balls.
Small 2oz of Vaseline - many uses beyond fire for this
20ish feet of twine - but I usually use it for a clothes line or tarp tie downs
A piece of fatwood from my last trip
And a rubber straw from a saywer filter. This is the most used piece of my kit. I camp a lot in the rain, and have never failed to get a fire, and the key is to blow on it relentlessly.
