>>2366234Start with camping - learn to set up a tent, start a fire, cook something simple over one weekend. Then move up to a week - that will bring in new challenges. Then learn foraging, fishing, hunting, trapping, building shelters. Then do all these, but in the winter, which is a whole different issue entirely. As you do these things you'll learn more and more and understand what you are capable of and if you keep at it, in a couple of years you will know exactly when you're actually capable of actually surviving long term. It's possible, but the road is long and you have to really commit, otherwise you either quit or become another missing hiker who thought he can cut it in the forest with a tarp and a swiss army knife.
