About two months ago, I planted some garlic cloves from the supermarket that had sprouted before I could use them, just to see what would happen (I didn't expect much, knowing full well it was probably chem-treated). I planted five, and while they all sprouted, I believe four of them ceased growth and should be written off. One though, second from left, might actually pull through. I know that garlic needs temps below 40 degrees for its growth to kick in (the first time that will happen is tonight), but how low can temps get before I should think about bringing stuff inside?
This is a north-facing apartment in zone 7, and word on the street is the Maryland winter this year is going to be brutal. I figure I'll try stuff from seed next year now that I know the balcony has enough sun, but for now I still want to see if I can keep this one plant growing.
