>>833284Serrations are mostly good for cutting cordage, plastic wrap, erc even if the knife isn't very sharp. That's not what you usually need outdoors. They just reduce the useful length of the blade, and they're usually at the base, where you want a straight edge if you do any wood carving.
I did buy a semi serrated to keep clipped to my life jacket though.
