I used to visit my family’s ancestral home a lot as a kid. We bought the land in the 1789 but the house itself wasn’t built until the 1820’s. No one has lived in it since the 1950’s but it’s still ours along with the land. The structure hasn’t been maintained at all and is now decrepit beyond repair. The interior is pretty spooky, especially the old dirt floor cellar. The surrounding property has a small indian burial ground but it’s pretty far from the house (the property itself is about 400 acres). There are also several slave graves marked with pretty crude blank headstones in a clearing near the house. My family cemetery is about 100 yards from the house but the last person to be buried there was in the 1930’s.
