Some people do, though when you're /out/, it's hardly a need in most situations. The most basic need is a knife, in which case a simple Mora will do the trick for most people. The rest is often superficial, and after all, even a knife is superficial to many people.
Multitools are great for:
- electrical and mechanical works, thanks to pliers, wire cutters, crimper, files, numerous drivers and hex keys... hardly ever a need /out/
- everyday tools like can and bottle openers, which you won't be needing /out/
- saws and scrapers, hardly useful for most people
- scissors, which can be needed especially when it comes to first aid, but then you'd better just pack actual scissors
And I guess that's it.
So unless you have some special needs, like riding a bike, setting traps or going hunting, in which case some of those tools may prove themselves useful, or have this "survival" mindset, as in "let's carry a ton of shit I won't need 99.99% of the time but will prove slightly more useful when ITS HAPPENING", then you don't need one.
Same thing applies to Swiss army knives, I used to carry one, but I eventually realized a corkscrew wouldn't really help me innawoods.
