BTW, the Alocs and the Esbit ethanol stoves both are trangia clones.
Anyway, the overheating results in higher evaporation of the ethanol, most of the flames went out into the open, heating nothing but air. The solution to that was to add some water. I used to use 97% ethanol, but now i use about 80%, it burns more efficient and with less soot.
I would still use the potstand, but my titanium pot isn't large enough.
Pic related, it's my old cooking kit. The blue bottle is still used for longer hikes. It holds about half a liter of ethanol, enough for a week.
The new kit is a lot lighter.
