Once you get older into your mid 20s and all your friends are married or in successful jobs and you realize drinking at home all day is depressing, fishing with a little afternoon buzz aint too bad.

First one i caught after moving here, I released it because I didn’t know what it was. I felt so bad after that. One of my local lakes def had a dent made for a few years because I took out a good amount of adult sneks.
After catching a handful of them, you start to realize why they’re so bad for the environment. They hunt smarter than other fish, they hide in grass or rocks and pop out when they feel or see something swimming above them. When they have fry, the parent stays nearby and strikes at anything coming close (pic related may have been a momma, I was running a Mepps and see a ton of fry jumping at the surface and the adult slammed the thing), and then the juveniles get good at hiding fast, this one lake has a bunch of rocks along the shore and the 6”-10” young ones will back into a little hole and pop out as minnows swim by and run right back into the hole, made for a fun time running UL gear through there.
