pic related, first guardia outbreak noticed here was in 2004 when it contaminated a drinking water supply, and i stand corrected; since then all our public drinking water is UV threated, private wells or lakes are up to the owners. that means more than half my life i been drinking unthreated tap water. the well at our family cabin is unthreated.
also: 250 - 500 cases of giardia annually, most infected abroad and a small note of some kids in kindergardens getting it but they eat dirt whats to expect.
i also think its a cultural difference on how we approach life
