The problem here on /out/ is many have a knee jerk reaction to anything gear related and try to pigeonhole what they believe is best. And justify their spending habits to others never taking into account that what works well for them in their region is not perfect for others.
There will always be an argument for new tech vs old tech, and at the end of the day when camp is set up and you you are relaxing mother nature does not give two shits about your name brand or generic gear.
