I will provide a handy guide for concealing anything, including yourself, from all human eyes, in the great outdoors.
1. Dig a hole
Stick, shovel, gas auger, gardening hoe, digging rock, excavator, whatever you got. Dig it deep enough to fit whatever you are trying to hide. If you want to build a hidden L-shaped shelter, or tunnel sort of structure, then build a curved roof or use logs/lumber to prop up your walls, like a coal mine.
Two feet of Earth is enough for a secure ceiling, it can be safe from detection and even explosions, to a certain degree. But, let's consider that your shelter/cache does not need to be bomb-proof, even though this is not very difficult.
Additionally, you can find a hole that nature/water has already dug for you, like the many caves across the USA and in mountainous regions across the world. You would just need to conceal the entrance, just like you would with your cache or hidden shelter.
