If it’s your land/lease, are you baiting, what about ladder stands or pop-up blinds? Where are you staying while you’re hunting, a tent, pop-up camper, cabin? Also, you’ll need food during the hunting trip, propane for the stove and heater, gas for the chainsaw if you’re going to have a fire, lawn chairs for sitting around the fire, etc. And then there’s the deer processing cost (but of course everybody on /out/ is a master butcher and does it themselves, right…)
Meanwhile, I can get Angus ribeye steaks at Meijer for $11.00 per pound.
I’m not saying one can’t do cheep-ass bargain hunting, just that it’ll still probably be cheeper to buy meat at the grocery store and hunting is more about being outdoors and hanging out with friends.
