Hey /out/ just wanting to start getting into backpacking and looking at gear. Is my best bet to save money to learn how to use a tarp? As a beginner has anyone done that and did it work? Did you prepare before hand?

Thank you dude! I want to camp to become stronger not just to do what I can already do inside I will spend on the shoes and backpack as that will protect my body. Are clothes something to buy? I was thinking of just using my regular clothes that I wear in the city (Seattle).
