There's a Google Earth .kmz file or two out there that have most of the US hot springs listed. Do a search and get a few of them because nobody has a complete list.

These two guidebooks have all the good ones. Here is the Northwest edition:

There is also a Southwest version. They don't have the most primitive, "unknown" ones, but these books are a good start.

Picture is a G. Earth view of the hot spring in my previous reply, Rocky Canyon on the Payette River in Idaho. We have several river canyons in the state where there are one HS after another. It takes dedication and research to find the good ones. In my opinion the best ones are the hardest to get to. Hot springs bring out the best and worst in people. A two-plus mile walk usually filters out what we call the "jackholes."

Pic starts with Rocky Canyon at the bottom. Upstream springs are all soakable, more or less. Silver Creek is the only one which is a privately owned resort. Never been there but looks nice.

I like to camp in places remote enough that it's almost guaranteed nobody else will wander by my camp, so as long as it's not too cold I usually strip down to my boots as soon as I'm done with the "dirty work" of setting up camp.

I'll throw a pair of underwear on when cutting wood and such to avoid getting a splinter in the dick, but when just hanging around camp, cooking, or exploring near by I'll be as nude as possible.

It feels great, spending time naked makes you more comfortable with your self and confident, and you get a way better tan.
