Costco brand Zyrtec. $15 for 365 pills and it's 24 hour. Besides that, don't roll in grass, and wash my hands/face pretty often with water which seems to help a bit.

Dyphenhydramine. 1/4 the recommended dose. The low dose doesn't make you drowsy. FWIW you'll build up a tolerance to the drowsiness of a full dose in a few days. If you feel you need it full strength.

allergies are most certainly real depending on what part of the country you live in and what you are allergic to. Even normal people who dont "have allergies" can be miserable if they visit the desert parts of the US when everything is in bloom and the air is bone dry.
