Little fucker like this one almost bit me.
Any boot that might protect me from them?

Very much doubt you were almost attacked by one; unless you were walking literally through a swamp. When they are young they tend to stay with and on their mothers, so a boot will not help you then.

I've never had an issue with a gator at any point. The only time they're a threat is in locations where idiots constantly feed them and they come to associate humans with food. But if you're in a place like that, then you're not really out.

Recently kayaked through a narrow river near Tampa which was loaded with gators of all sizes. At no point did myself or anyone I was with feel threatened by them. Only time I got spooked was when we were taking a break and when I was sitting still the biggest gator any of us had seen the whole day was suspending itself in the water directly below my kayak.
