>>1016449not all of them, usually the best aren't
sometimes there are days where flyfishing kills it
some days there arent
i've had days where all the fish (bluegill in this case) wanted was a dry fly presentation, so i tied on a foam ant, and outfished everyone there, by size and numbers using maggots, because the seasoned bluegill in that over-fished lake spook at loud plops, and people say "there's only dinks in there" because of it
other times they wont touch anything tied, and you just have to accept that some days, a conventional lure, or live bait, is better. usually flyfishing is already a hinderence, but thats part of the fun, the challenge
>>1016481+1 its only the traditionalists using bamboo rods, and $200 silk line that are a pain in the ass
>>1016493>Fly fags are 100% pretentious.only traditionalists/purists
and even the normal flyfishermen are annoyed by them
>>1016505>ohiowanna go fishing sometime?
>>1016514+1 i dont know why they work but they do. they're like the fly fishing equivalent of a curly tail grub, it doesnt really look like anything, but it also looks like everything by just moving in a tasty-looking way. how about mop flies, too? the only thing they could be is cranefly larvae or maybe helgramites

>>1016578>a milkcrate is free>anchor trolley is a easy diy+1 +1
>a rudder can be made from a cutting boari dont think you need a rudder, that's more work, just a skeg
which is easy enough
zoffiger on youtube should have some info on skegs
somewhere
>>1016607if it is popping at any point, you're doing something wrong. try taking a longer pause. if your leader is more than a year old, replace it, leaders aren't cheap, but you can buy 3 for 9 dollars and and some tippet material for 3-5 dollars, and make that last all year if you dont snag a lot
look up the orvis fly casting videos, those are how i learned how to cast
10/10 i reccomend them
