Hello /out/ I'm a Colorado fag that never actually goes camping because I don't have dICK.

for 3 days you need 3 gallons of water or 1 gallon and a filtering/purifying system and access to treatable water source. you gonna need a good backpack for that.

that is the single most important thing to have. next one would be shelter material for cold and sun exposure which a mylar space blanket could do in a pinch fits in your pocket and all.

he next most important would be some knife. a pocket folder the very least a smallish 3-4" fixed would be best.

then come the convenience items like food, energy snacks, blanket, change of clothes, hat, sunscreen, bandaids, lamp, shovel, cup/canteen, pan/pot and whatever you can come up with that you want to dick around with.

You will need:

Those are the BARE ESSENTIALS

And since they're the barest of essentials, they're cheap. You can use your school backpack most likely, a cheapo backpacking style hammock is under $20 off Amazon (no guarantee on comfort or durability but it'll work), you can make a penny stove out of a soup can and a $0.70 bottle of rubbing alcohol, cook in the tin can your stew comes in, and eat with a freebie spork from [any fastfood restaurant]. This leaves your big expenses being the clothes and boots/shoes you wear, water purification, and the sleeping bag. Using shit you most likely already have, you're looking at under $100. If you need to get a backpack too, make it $150.

Note that the more money you spend, the lighter your shit will be and the rougher you can treat it before it craps out.

knife is important because you never know what you gonna need it for. it doesn't have to be anything fancy. some blade you should have always not just camping. but if you choose not to bring any that's fine water and heat management is the main issue for 3 days.

I guess I'd pick the far left knife, The Bic lighter, the orange lidded cooking pot and the top right water canteen.

Using the knife I could build a basic lean-to shelter, gather tinder and firewood and light a fire with the bic lighter, boil water in cooking pot to disinfect it and carry drinking water with me while I try and navigate my way out of the woods before I get raped by yogi bear

I hiked the entire PCT with a tiny multitool, had a 1.5 inch blade that I maybe used twice. Scissors work better in most cases

Don't need shoes cause' I got hobbit feet and won't be going on long hikes anyways. Cordage can be made from local plants so that I can make snares for food. I can boil water and store it with the pot. Knife for shelter, kindling, and food prep. Sleeping bag for sleeping.
