>>1025063I used to have an absolutely terrible time with mosquitoes and the like, but it's not so bad now. Things I did:
>DeetAs you've realized, it's not always the whole answer, but it's a damn good start.
>Never use soap, shampoo, etc. that smells like fruit or flowersMost men don't, but on the other hand, you never did you were a man. Besides, you might be washing your hands with some fruity soap at work or something, and the smell stays on you. Anyway, musky smells seem to be safe. Unscented stuff works well for stuff like hunting.
>Make your own bug repellentYou're actually doing this right now. The trouble is, society has told you that your natural defences against mosquitoes that your ancestors spent millions of years evolving to keep themselves safe from malaria and shit is nothing but body odor that you must eliminate every day. In offer words, quit showering, and your stink will repel bugs. For me, this alone works as well as deet.
>FireSmelling like smoke seems to help
>BeerIf I drink beer, that seems to keep bugs away. Same goes for gin. That is probably related to my next point...
>Change your dietBananas and apples seem to draw bugs. If you eat more oranges (and offer stuff with vitamin C) more garlic and other pungent foods, more sour food, more bitter food, and less sweet food, that seems to help, too.
Hope something in there helps!
