>>16993Well these are pretty much the best widely available knives in an acceptable price range, excluding custom built ones. If you asked for a good knife, this is what people would tell you to get.
Though you could also consider the Ready Detachement series from Ontario, the RD7 more specifically, which has a 5160 steel 1/4" thick blade. It's not a steel very fit for a blade, though far from being bad, but it's much tougher than your usual blade, and if you plan on going camping for extended periods of time, it may come handy.
Also, to better fir the size of knives you want, there's the BK7, with a 7" blade, closer to the RAT-7 and ESEE-6.
As for the choice, well, just try them all, and see which one feels better in your hand and better balanced, and just pick this one, because you can hardly go wrong with either of these.
