Car camping is when you drive somewhere, park and set up camp
Backpacking is when you walk somewhere, and set up camp
An improved campsite is where someone has camped there before and improved/trashed it by moving rocks around stepping on all the plants etc.
A virgin campsite is where no one has camped recently enough to notice
A pay site is where you pay to camp at a specific campsite at a campground that may include toilets and potable water
