Hmm, I've honestly not heard about anything similar in any other countries. Wikipedia doesn't really bring up much, but I'm not quite sure what the term for them is.

It's a shame they banned international teams to be honest, I understand why they did it, but meeting the aussie and kiwi teams was fun.

Britfag here. plan to go /out/ with my dad for a couple of days hiking Can anyone recommend or even just list of decent places to go. Used to go when i was younger but we more or less stuck to camp sites so it was a bit more diluted then what i fancy doing now.

peak district sounds boss, I was considering the Pennine area, im at manchester uni and see dem hills every day, they look like a good place to go.
I have a friend who's done the welsh coastal path or at least some of it. I will have to go talk to him about that too

I've always enjoyed it. Nice views, easy hills (but enough of them for a long day if that's what you want), plenty of other ways to amuse yourself in the area. The only problem you might have is crowding, especially with campsites.

yeah that really is the same in places iv been before. We where on a site in the forest of Dean and that was the best place i have been in terms of crowding. I remember seeing 2 other people and that was it.

The only viable options I have for most of the year are two reasonably small National Trust forests.

I think you'll find that National Trust managed forests aren't a particularly viable option for wild camping.
