interesting. so they are not the same metal, whatever they are.
i guess it depends on your detector settings and what it is set to detect.
most detectors have a setting specifically tuned for finding gold/silver.
Since brass is an alloy of copper, zinc, etc, it might ring up on a different setting.

those are some odd shaped pieces.
at first glance i think maybe they are "leftovers" from a CNC machining operation.
then again, i'm trying to imagine what someone would have been machining to end up with these shapes as the leftovers

then again, those pieces somewhat remind me of the individual cutting bits on a chainsaws chain
(pic related)
but of course brass isn't a viable cutting edge

It looks like a custom made D12, the things inside of it where probable only there to give it additional weight or to make one result more likely than the others.

You may want to try posting it to the /tg/ they might know what system it's for.

Asides from that, what are the scales involved here?
How may "C"s?
How many "X"s?
Did it feel balanced before you took it apart?
Does it go back together easily?

Interesting to note: (see pic related)

Please bare with me on this. if we assume the edge i highlighted here with green, to be the "base" edge of each respective pentagram shaped face, then the "C" is upside down and backwards.
the "X" is universal relative to the vertical axis, so it doesn't tell us which way is intended to be "right side up", if any.
Though if we assume the vertex opposite the green highlighted edge is to be the "base", the "C" is then right side up and the universal "X" doesn't conflict with said vertex being used as the base.
Just trying to make sense of the "X" and the "C"
if they were numbers i would still say it was some kind of gaming die. but just the two letters potentially make it a purely binary system of chance. its either an "X" or a "C"
same as a "1" or a "0" in binary logic?

What do the "X" and "C" stand for? are they variable to some equation?

okay after seeing additional pics. it appears that the letters are "right side up" when the vertex is pointing down.
using this orientation, if we inscribe a 5 pointed star inside the pentagon we get a, upside down 5 pointed star, or,... a pentagram!

The Cs and Bs are there for hope. The Xs Ys and Zs are there to inspire fear. The whole thing is weighted in favor a fear.

wrong, most D12 dice use a flat edge of each face to be the base of the letter, they dont use the vertex

If I had to guess I'd say a miniatures wargame of some type; the letters could represent different events that strike your army, and I could imagine folks taking their figurines innawoods to play. Not op, but i've been monitoring this thread and yes it has seemed somewhat suspicious.
