Not only does it start blackening the bottom, but the entire sides from top to bottom. The term "woodgas" and "gasifier" are marketing slogans in the manner "organic" is a marketing slogan. Only 99% of the time it is used completely incorrectly, unlike "organic".
But, hey, the important part is that it will leave you with a warm meal. Who cares if the pot is coated in soot right?
