>>1048300>safer with the bros?Why exactly?
With all newcomers (m and f) i prefer the 1-on-1 session. Mainly because it allows me to be more attentive to security and technique.
Also it doesn't create dead time for others while I belay someone else.
(Beginner belayers are often insecure and nervous without supervision).
>teacher student thing is not funI personally do not think so. Maybe I am biased because I have a history of instructing/teaching and like explaining and demonstrating to others.
In my exp some girls can dig 'the instructor angle' (
>>1047937 akin to what this anon said). You are taking the lead while being articulate about what you do. I also tends to help if they see that you are very passionate about your sport.
Then again not everyone is cut out for this approch.
>bouldering I do get that. Which is why I tend not to prefer taking newcomers bouldering.
To me the main draw of bouldering is the beauty of kinetic movement. Ans that appreciation in my experience only comes with time.
If you don't have that appreciation it is more frustrating than rewarding.
Sport climbing (even indoor) is still closer to what the original essence of climbing was - the thrill of height.
And with girls that height thing is what makes it such a 'potent' psychological thing to do.
This becomes even stronger when they are afraid of heights.
They aressociate the height and fear with your assistance. And they learn to trust you through being belays by you.
