Do any of you /out/kasts know of some sweet spots to just get away? Preferable within reasonable distance from Tulsa.

I too live in Tulsa.

For day hiking there's turkey mountain.

There's also Skiatoook Lake, and plenty of other lakes around.

I go spearfishing in Beaver Lake over in Arkansas from time to time, but that's a 3 hour drive.

As someone who lives in Oklahoma, there is actually quite a bit of outdoorsy things to do around the state. I'd highly recommend the Wichita Mountains to the southwest, the Arbuckles in the south-middle, and the Ouachita Forest in the southeast. Plus there's tons of smaller places like Red Rock Canyon, the salt plains, and lakes of all sizes--big and popular, small and discreet. Also, with you being in Tulsa, everything in northwestern Arkansas is just a day trip away. Alternatively, find some empty plains in the middle of nowhere, buy a telescope, and do some astronomy
