Hi /out/, first timer here.
I'm currently in the Army, and I'm originally from Portland, OR. I've been away from home for a very long time, and when I complete my contract with Uncle Sam, I plan on taking a week long trip, hiking in, out, and all around of Mt. Hood.
First off, I've never made a trip that long. It's always been 4-5 days tops with MREs and a full rucksack of basic essentials.
Being I won't be in the military soon, and the survival skills I have in my arsenal only apply to the environments of Iraq and Afghanistan, I need to get down to business here.
I've been going camping, fishing, and hiking on Mt. Hood since I was a small child. I know the place fairly well. Does anyone else here on /out/ share this familiarity?
pic is the peak of Tom Dick & Harry Mountain, overlooking Mirror Lake and Mt. Hood in the background.
Also. I'll throw in some pics of the wildlife and landscape of my current location.
