Morakniv Bushcraft, carbon steel version would be my suggestion but there's also a stainless steel version (which is slightly cheaper) if you're going to be in a high humidity area and potential corrosion gets your panties in a twist. It's 3/4 tang, but it's a solid knife.
Council Tools Boy's Axe. Dayton pattern and decent length hickory handle, so it's fairly versatile.
