>>1065597>>1065122I just made my own quilt. I used or for the first time two nights ago in ~35 degree weather. Foam pad. Pretty toasty. It weighs 1.3 lbs, is filled with 850fp, and measures 56"*96" (I'm tall). It's double baffled, it has at least 3" of loft wherever you touch.
It lets you sleep in different configurations. It's great on a hammock or in a tent. Gotta pee at 3am? Wrap it around your shoulders and stay toasty.
It took me 40 hours to make, I've never sewn anything before. I was into it about $150 when I was done.
Check alibaba for bulk down, just make sure it's IDFL certified. Ripstop By the Roll has some *excellent* .66 oz/yard^2 fabric that makes great quilts.
Now that I know what I'm doing, I'm thinking about making a batch of 10 or so to sell.
