We are having a girl so I am actually kind of excited to get her in to as much as she wants to. We have a bunch of relatives talking about buying her dumb girl consumer shit like pink clothes and jewelry. So I'm going to try and just go the opposite direction.
I'm not a SJW check-my-privilege type, and my wife is pretty traditional and loves being able to stay at home, but there is a definite line between 'traditional woman' and 'useless consumer drone'. I'm sure she will grow up and have her own interests but as long as I make backpacking, climbing, and everything else a viable option, I've done my part. But I'd kill myself if I gave her a tablet at 3 years old and she grew up to be a Facebook-dwelling airhead.
