Needs thinning and some fine tuning out of the box but it's great where it matters - steel and heat treat.
There's a guy called Jeff White who makes French (Mediterranean) and English style trade knives, with curly maple handles for around $30.
Only difference is handle shape.
He lists on eBay from time to time, and you can usually get a better deal there.

Rough finish, and they need a bit more thinning out than the Svörd, but the steel is nice.
If you're willing to put some work in with a file or slack belt, one of the best deals is the Air Force Survival Knife made by Ontario model ON-499, usually around $35.
Cut the top guard flush with the handle, ensmall the lower guard, and file down the whole bevel almost up to the fuller.
